We love this video of a sweet cat who is trying his hardest to keep a curious little tot from getting into trouble with the stove. Yes, there are adults nearby but kids can get burnt in an instant if no one’s paying attention! Luckily this protective kitty isn’t going to let that happen!
An unlikely animal bond can tug at our heartstrings, and one cat and dog duo exemplify that heartwarming attachment.
Idgie and Ruth, a Dachshund and a black and white cat, are the precious spectacle that draws visitors to Hollywood Houndz Boutique & Spa in Lake Mary, Florida, the Huffington Post reported.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the pair was found alongside a road in Seminole County. When animal control officers approached the Dachshund, they noticed that she was standing over the kitten, barking and growling when anyone tried to get close.
Officers then noticed that the kitten was having some difficulty getting around, and realized that she could only move her front legs; the back two were useless, the Sentinel article said.
The duo were taken back to a shelter, where several attempts were made to allow the cat the use of her back legs. Unfortunately, nothing—from steroid shots to acupuncture—made a difference.
It soon became clear, though, that the two friends were inseparable. Usually, the Sentinel article said, the shelter segregates cats and dogs, but any time the dog was away from her kitten friend, she seemed very upset.
“It was like she was constantly looking for her,” Diane Gagliano, the program coordinator for Seminole County Animal Services, told the Sentinel.
Gagliano then set up a special pen for the pair to be together.
Luckily, Jacqueline Borum, who runs Hollywood Houndz along with a nonprofit called Project Paws, took an interest in the two cuties and decided to take them in herself.
She dubbed them Idgie and Ruth after another inseparable pair in the movie “Fried Green Tomatoes.”
“They got lots of attention,” Borum said in a Sentinel video. “We’re making up for lost time of anything that they may have lacked.”
Since their adoption, they’ve become an adorable sight that has customers coming in specifically to hang out with them.
No one may ever know the unfortunate circumstances that brought about this incredible interspecies friendship, but their bond is clear. “Idgie would take a bullet for that cat,” Borum told the Sentinel.

What’s more adorable than a sweet Golden Retriever? A sweet Golden Retriever with baby chicks crawling all over him!
According to Today.com, when Photographer Candice Sedighan found out that a feed store near her home in California was going out of business and needed to find a home for a group of newly hatched chicks, she wanted to help. “I decided to take them in until I could find a permanent home for them,” she told Today.com.
The only unknown was Sedighan’s 11-year-old Golden Retriever, Champ. What would Champ think of the fuzzy little intruders?
Sedighan slowly introduced the chicks to Champ. She let the dog sniff them and demonstrated to the pooch how carefully Sedighan was petting them.
She need not have worried about her gentle Golden. He took to the chicks right away and quickly grew accustomed to cuddling with his new friends and serving as a baby chicken jungle gym as the chicks explored their new environment.
“The chicks loved to burrow under Champ’s fur as it kept them warm just as their mother’s feathers would,” Sedighan told Today.
Fortunately for all of us, Sedighan couldn’t resist snapping some photos and a video of the adorable fluffy golden gang.
And, happily the photographer was also able to find a permanent home for the little family of fowl.
Sedighan wasn’t surprised that Champ was so gentle and loving with the little fuzzy chicks. “The wisdom and calm nature of senior dogs is unmatched,” she said.
If the photos aren’t enough, here’s a video of a the big yellow pile of adorable.
I love these guys! They look like a group of ladies spending the day at the spa before they head off to the bar for some Prosseco. This was the most amazing way to start my day.
Omigosh. We love love love this cat who has life all figured out. Why strain one’s neck to drink out of the bowl when one can simply dip one’s paw into it and drip the nectar into one’s mouth?
Special thanks to Pawnation for the tip on this HILARIOUS vid.
Meow for now!
